Prostate Volume Study Prep Instructions


These instructions are essential, so please follow them!

The day before your volume study:
  1. Eat a normal diet the day before your volume study. You may have regular food such as meat, potatoes, etc. However please avoid gas-forming foods such as cabbage, onions, baked beans, broccoli, cauliflower, and green peppers.

  2. Do not apply lotion, oil or powder to your skin (arms and chest area) for 24 hours prior to your volume study.
The day of your volume study:
  1. Drink clear liquids only until your volume study is over. No solid foods, milk or juices that are not clear. See diet sheet on back page. See Clear Liquid Diet page.

  2. Give yourself a Fleet Enema two hours before you are scheduled to arrive.

  3. Your volume study will be performed at the Chicago Prostate Cancer Center. Our facility is located at One Oak Hill Center in Westmont, Illinois 60559.
Please call the Chicago Prostate Cancer Center, (630) 654-2515, between the hours of 8:00a.m.and 3:00p.m., prior to your volume study if you have any questions or concerns.

Note: You will be catheterized during your volume study.
